My Fellow Americans (USA, 7 min)
Directed & Produced by Garret Laver
An American President addresses his nation about an impending WWIII while he reflects on the country’s past, as well as his own. He surveys the similar circumstances that Franklin D. Roosevelt faced during his presidency and the preparation for WWII. Throughout his subsequent press conference, the president highlights these parallels while juxtaposing contemporary issues in an undeniable comparison. The president alludes back to his own experience as a child dealing with bullies. These flashbacks synthesize with the speech in moments of oppression and violence. The speech concludes with the president delivering a prayer for his past, as well as the nation’s future, in which he urges mankind to drop dividing barrios and come together as one singular race.
