Submissions for the 2017 Peace On Earth Film Festival are now closed.

The Directors of the Peace On Earth Film Festival, along with the Board of Directors of Transcendence Global Media, NFP, are pleased to announce that the 2017 Peace On Earth Film Festival, Friday, March 10, through Sunday, March 12, 2017, and will be hosted by the Music Box Theatre, the premiere venue for independent and foreign films in Chicago.

Submissions for the 2017 POEFF will commence on Monday, July 25 and run through October 10, 2016. We are proud to announce joining with FilmFreeway for 2017 and our continued relationship with Withoutabox as submission partners for the 2017 Peace On Earth Film Festival. The 9th Annual Peace On Earth Film Festival (POEFF) celebrates and supports independent filmmakers and their work from around the world on the themes of peace, nonviolence, social justice and eco-balance: films within the various modalities of peace genre. POEFF aims to contribute to a culture of peace through international cinema, dialogue and programming highlighting individuals on the vanguard of peace activism and social change.

Presenting a program of multi-faceted films, POEFF focuses on reshaping attitudes, encouraging and highlighting nonviolent practices, and opening minds to the possibility of communication, consideration, tolerance and understanding. POEFF features an Opening Night Press Gala, Filmmakers’ Panel discussions, Peacemakers’ Panel, discussions and a Closing Night Awards Ceremony where exhibiting filmmakers are honored, and category winners receive accolades and cash prizes.

Guidelines for Submission

Feature Documentary

The Feature Documentary category reaches out to filmmakers who have created feature length – comedy and drama – documentaries. The POEFF accepts films that advance the enterprise of peace. All submissions must be on the topic of peace, nonviolence, social justice, ecology and sustainability: films within the various modalities of peace genre comedy or drama. Submissions must be longer than 50 minutes and less than 100 minutes: TRT. Any genre.

 

Short Documentary

The Short Documentary category reaches out to filmmakers who have created short length – comedy and drama – documentaries. The POEFF accepts films that advance the enterprise of peace. All submissions must be on the topic of peace, nonviolence, social justice, ecology and sustainability: films within the various modalities of peace genre comedy or drama. Submissions must be 49 minutes or less: TRT. Any genre.

 

Feature Narrative Film

The category of Feature Narrative Films extends to fiction or non-fiction – comedy and drama – narration films. The POEFF accepts films that advance the enterprise of peace. All submissions must be on the topic of peace, nonviolence, social justice, ecology and sustainability: films within the various modalities of peace genre comedy or drama. Submissions should be longer than 50 minutes and less than 100 minutes: TRT. Any genre.

The category of Animation films – comedy and drama – extends to 2d and 3d created animation; however all animation is projected in 2d. We do not project in 3d. The POEFF accepts films that advance the enterprise of peace. All submissions must be on the topic of peace, nonviolence, social justice, ecology and sustainability: films within the various modalities of peace genre comedy or drama. Submissions cannot be longer than 30 minutes: TRT.

 

Students

Student Submissions

Peace On Earth Film Festival is proud to announce its Student Filmmaker Showcase for the 2017 festival. To qualify:

  • Student films must not exceed 30 minutes.
  • Project must be no more than two years old, and created while you were attending a college or university or high school.
  • Submit your film (DVD or Blu-ray), POEFF entry form, submission fee and a copy of your Student ID/school verification.
  • Additional information can be found in the Guidelines for Submissions, and the POEFF Submission Form.
  • Mail a copy of your film (DVD or Blu-ray), POEFF entry form, submission fee and student ID or school verification – postmarked no later than September 30, 2015 – to:

Awards

The Peace On Earth Film Festival, a competitive festival, brings together filmmakers of all backgrounds and levels of experience in a message of peace.

Plaques and monetary awards are presented in the “Best of …” all categories, including a new category in 2017, short and feature “Best Comedy”, in addition Exposé Awards for Feature Documentary and Short Documentary, respectively are presented to filmmakers that have presented subject matter that had previously received little or no media attention. Winners not in attendance will be mailed their monetary award and certificate.

Further, there is an award, the Student Choice Award for Most Inspiring Story, voted on by Chicago area school students, grades 7 – 12, who attend the Student Voices for Peace Showcase, held on Thursday and Friday morning of the festival weekend.
