(USA, Short Documentary, 15 min) Directed by Aidan Avery & Lane Brown


Abdulai is a portrait piece. Through the eyes of a village patriarch, this poetic and observational documentary short sets out to reveal the basis of joy and sense of community in Ekumfi-Atakwa, Ghana. While exploring both the strength and resilience found in this remote African village, the film shine light on the source of happiness from a new perspective.

(Canada, Short Narrative, 20 min) Directed by Andre Gaumond


Produced in collaboration with the Quebec Association in Suicide Prevention, A son tells the story of a psychologist, Sebastien Huberdeau, who pushes a young boy to tell why he wanted to end his life. What he discovers will go beyond his expectations.

FRIDAY is the story of a teenager struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother on the one-year anniversary of the tragic event.


Every Third Thursday of the month, the POEFF team will present Three Films under 30 minutes in length, from its’ festival archive (with permission of the filmmakers) and engage audience members in interpersonal dialogue.

Community Movie Nights are a program of the Peace On Earth Film Festival based on the Dialogue for Peace Outreach Education Program (DFP),  to date we have brought the DFP to over 7,000 students in 42 different schools within Cook County.
